Meetings
Where are the meetings held?
All our meetings are held in the lathe room at Santa Clara High School. Special Events meetings are usually held in a park or restaurant.
Can we attend the meetings online via Zoom?
We have plans to make it easy for members to attend via Zoom. But for now we are not equipped to do that yet.
General Body Meetings:

These occur every second Saturday of the month. It’s a great opportunity for all members to come together, to discuss, & share everything about wood turning.

Frequency: Monthly

Time: 1 pm - 3 pm

Who can attend: Members of the club or anyone who has taken wood turning classes through the Santa Clara Adult Education.

Purpose: General updates, decision-making, community building, displaying and sharing thoughts about (Show-N-Tell) their turnings.
Board of Directors Meetings:

These take place once every quarter. The Board plays a crucial role in shaping the organization’s direction and policies.

Frequency: Quarterly

Who can attend: These meetings are open to the general membership to attend. But the agenda (prepared about a week prior to the meeting and distributed to the board) will be strictly followed. Members can suggest agenda items and send them to the BOD chair 2 weeks in advance.

Purpose: Strategic planning, governance, and oversight.
Turn-N-Learn (TNL) Sessions:

These sessions are held about twice each month. Members can sign up online to participate and use the lathes.

Frequency: Bimonthly 3 hour sessions.

Who can attend: Member who have made a reservation through the Turn-N-Learn page.

Purpose: Skill development, knowledge sharing, and learning.
Additional Turning Practice Sessions (P4T, B2S, BOC, WIT):

These sessions provide an opportunity for members to hone their turning skills.

Frequency: As needed

Who can attend: Member who have made a reservation through the Turn-N-Learn page.

Purpose: Skill improvement, camaraderie, and charity work.

P4T - Pens for Troops - Members make pens for the Marines.

B2S - Back to School - Members make turnings that will be auctioned off during Back to School evening.

BOC - Beads of Courage. Members make boxes for the Beads of Courage program.

WIT - Women in Turning. Members make wig stands. More about this will be covered in the WIT page.
Special Events:

Summer Picnic: A delightful way to enjoy the outdoors, bond with fellow members, and savor good food.

End-of-Year Holiday Party/Dinner: A festive celebration to wrap up the year, exchange warm wishes, and create lasting memories.

Who can attend: Members and their significant others.
Professional Demos:

These sessions provide an opportunity for members to meet professionals and learn their techniques.

Purpose: Skill development, knowledge sharing, and learning.
