Hi
Currently we offer 5 types of Turn-N-Learn sessions (namely TNL, P4T, B2S, BOC, & WIT), and each one of them have different terms and limitations to follow. For you to participate in any of the Turn-N-Learn sessions, we should already have a signed waiver form in our files. This is usually done the first time you come to a session after you take membership.
TNL (Turn-N-Learn) :
You provide your own materials, you keep what you make.
-
You bring your own wood and any hardware kits that are required for your turning project. Ex: pen kits, pepper mill kits etc.
-
You are restricted to make only items similar to what was taught in a class you took at SCAE. For example, you are not allowed to make a goblet during these sessions if you haven't taken the goblet class offered by SCAE.
-
The fee you pay to reserve a spot is considered as a donation to BCW and as such is non-refundable.
- Since the registration process is automated, you can not change your spot or date after you have made a reservation.
- We require a minimum number of members for each session to make it worthwhile for the volunteer instructor to be present during these sessions. That minimum number is 4. If fewer than 4 members register for any session, BCW reserves the right to cancel that session and give a rain check to those members to be used towards another session in the future.
B2S (Back to School) :
You donate what you make to BCW. BCW will sell it during Back to School night auction. The proceeds go towards the maintenance of the school woodshop program. There is no fee associated with this Turn-N-Learn session.
P4T (Pens for Troops) :
In this session you will be restricted to making pens and pen boxes for the men and women who pledge their lives to serve our country in the armed forces. We will provide all the materials needed and you provide your time and expertise.
BOC (Beads of Courage) :
In this session you will be be making Beads of Courage boxes that we gift to children in hospitals who are coping with serious illness. We will provide the materials and you provide your time and expertise. There is no fee associated with this session.
WIT (Women in Turning) :
This session is restricted to just the women in the club. This is like a regular TNL session but there is no associated fee.
