Rasmus Petersen from Denmark turns multi-axis pendant & mouse
Born and raised in Auning (a small town) in Jylland, Denmark in 1975, I have three brothers and my mother; we lost our father in 1979. I spent the first many years of my work life working with computers. Around 2008 (during the IT bubble), I struck out on my own, still tending to a few old clients, but focused on changing my interest in woodturning to a small business.
Besides my woodturning business, every year I work in the event industry, being stage master of one of the big stages in Denmark, and working as the right-hand man to the site manager of the Copenhell festival. So, woodwork in winter and in the slow months in summer, touring with stage building.
I started turning in 2007 as a complete hobby but soon decided I wanted to make my living from turning, and things went from there.
The shop has all the usual stuff: hundreds of table legs, lamp parts, drawer knobs, stair parts. Lots of one-offs and prototypes. My own specialty is Christmas ornaments; I make around 2000 (I think) and a few hundred cheese cutters (a very Danish thing) and all the usual stuff like candlesticks, pepper grinders, jewelry, and a few bowls.
Besides turning for others and making my own stuff, I teach on a regular basis, offering weekend and evening classes.

Ray Hari turns a Wig Stand
The Women in Turning (WIT) of BCW have launched an inspiring Wig Stand project, dedicated to creating and donating wig stands to those in need. During this month's meeting, Ray Hari will demonstrate the process that BCW WIT members are using to craft these wig stands.
